Introduction
The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially
launched the landmark "Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program". The program's core goal is to provide
affordable housing and interest-free loans to the underprivileged and low-income citizens across Punjab,
making homeownership a reality for thousands of families.
This comprehensive guide details the 3 distinct execution models of the program, requirements, eligibility
criteria, and a step-by-step tutorial on how to submit your application online.
The 3 Execution Models (Categories)
To cater to different housing needs, the program divides its units and support structure into 3 main
models:
- 1. Interest-Free Loans (70,000 Units): Designed for families who already own a plot of
land but lack the funds to build. Applicants owning plots up to 5 Marlas in urban areas or up to 10 Marlas
in rural areas can secure an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 15 Lakh. The repayment
period is spread over 7 years with easy, affordable monthly installments.
- 2. State Land Development (10,000 Units): The government constructs apartments and
houses on state-owned land in major urban centers. These homes are allotted through a transparent process,
enabling families to purchase units on interest-free installments.
- 3. Affordable Private Housing Schemes (20,000 Units): Under this model, the government
partners with private housing developers. In compliance with APHS Rules, developers allocate a fraction of
their projects to low-cost housing. The government provides a direct subsidy to allottees to purchase
these homes via easy 5-year installment plans.
